The 162nd winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Wednesday 29th April 1970 over the Rowley Mile, was Nijinsky (4/7 fav), a bay colt by Northern Dancer out of Flaming Page, owned by Charles Engelhard. The winner won by 2 1/2 lengths in 1 minute 41.54 secs, with a further 2 1/2 lengths back to the third. A field of 14 runners contested the race which was worth £28,195 (Equivalent to £425,700 in 2017)
